OUR STORY

Over the years, auctioneers have defined themselves as independent contractors who work as a team. The Active Auctioneers Foundation acts as a support network, created to assist auctioneers in times of financial hardship due to accident, sickness, or death.

How Active Auctioneers Foundation began:

Early on, Auctioneer Scott Caldwell and long-time friend and colleague, Mike Hoch, as well as other auctioneers, felt the need to reach into their own wallets to support fellow colleagues in time of financial distress or need, due to illness, injury or death.

Active Auctioneers Foundation (AAF) was founded when a dear team member suffered a severe accident and was unable to continue his profession as a professional auctioneer.  With excessive medical bills piling up, his family needed financial assistance.  Standing in an auction lane, Scott announced the need to start a foundation to support like-minded auctioneers’ values and goals. Donations support auctioneer educational programs or those in need of short term financial assistance.

  • If an auctioneer is out of work for several days or months faced with excessive doctor bills I felt the calling to help, knowing this could be me.
